| Hospice
for the Dying, Timisoara |
Timisoara
is a very poor town in the heart of Romania where most of the young
have left for greener fields. The result is a high population of elderly
people, who have no support from the Government and no extended family
. Many of these live alone and have serious debilitating diseases, which
malnutrition or near starvation has caused. Their weakness prevents
them from leaving the hovels they call home. The sisters that work with
us have been trying to bring help to these unfortunates and give them
treatment in filthy conditions. We have therefore decided this was an
important field of mercy that we must get involved in. So we have built
a “Divine Mercy Hospice for the Dying” where these poor
people can die with some degree of dignity and comfort. |

The
Timisoara Inspection Department gave us the authorisation for the building
on August 10th with the name Divine Mercy Hospice. They received recognition
of their medical certificates on August 22nd also license for medical
practice and so the nuns can now work as licensed nurses. After receiving
these important documents, which are necessary for the fuctioning of
the Hospice, They can now start to bring people in. |

The
sisters were restricting themselves to one meal a day in order to buy
the necessities for the suffering old people they bring God’s
Divine Mercy to. If these wonderful sisters were not helped they too
would have required medical attention as well as their patients. |
